"Haymaking on the Biebrza" - Scything Boggy Meadows for Nature

The Biebrza National Park and Trzcianne Commune would like to warmly invite you to take a part in the European and National Championships in Scything Boggy Meadows for Nature “Haymaking on the Biebrza”. The event will be hosted by the Biebrza National Park, on September 8th 2007 at 9 am, on Bagno Ławki (southern part of the Park, at the view tower nearby the Tsar’s road) . The aim of the Championships is to preserve old tradition of hand scything of boggy meadows. The event promotes also the idea of active protection of boggy areas. We would like to restore the unique atmosphere of play and fair sport competition, which used to accompany haymakers in the past.
